Solar System Health Check
Most solar systems in Ireland have never been looked at since the day they were commissioned. No service, no inspection, no performance check — just an assumption that the box on the wall is doing what the brochure promised. For a piece of electrical plant that lives on your roof in Irish weather and is supposed to earn its keep for 25 years, that’s a strange way to treat it.
The Solar Support Health Check is a complete physical, electrical and performance inspection of your system — with a written, photographed report telling you exactly what condition it’s in, what it should be generating for its size and location, what it actually is generating, and what (if anything) needs attention, ranked by urgency. It turns ‘I think it’s working’ into numbers.
When a Health Check Makes Sense
- You've bought a house with solar on the roof — You've inherited a system with no handover, no paperwork, no app login and no idea of its condition or history. The health check gives you the full picture — and we get the monitoring, MPRN export registration and Clean Export Guarantee moved into your name, because until that's done you may be exporting for free.
- Your installer has ceased trading — The system hasn't been touched since it went up, the workmanship warranty is gone, and you want to know what you're actually dealing with before anything fails
- Generation looks low — The app graph looks lower than you remember and the bills stopped falling — but there's no error light and no obvious fault. Gradual underperformance is the hardest fault to spot and the health check is built to find it.
- A warranty is about to expire — Catch developing failures while the manufacturer still pays for them. An inverter tested at year 9 of a 10-year warranty is a claim; the same failure at year 11 is an invoice.
- You're selling your home — A recent, independent condition report on the solar system is a genuine selling point, supports the BER conversation, and pre-empts the buyer's surveyor asking questions you can't answer.
- You run a commercial or farm system — Lenders, insurers and auditors increasingly want evidence that rooftop plant is inspected and maintained. The health check report is written to serve as that evidence, and rolls naturally into a structured O&M contract.
What the Health Check Covers
What you receive
The Payback Question, Answered With Data
A solar system quietly running 30% down doesn’t announce itself. It just shows up as electricity bills that never fell as far as promised — and most owners write that off as ‘the weather’ or ‘prices going up’. Meanwhile the true cause sits on the roof: a lazy string, a derating inverter, or an export registration that never happened.
The health check replaces that guesswork with a baseline. Once you know what your system should produce and what it does produce, every future year takes thirty seconds to verify — and any decline gets caught at a year old instead of at five.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take?
Around 1.5–2 hours on site for a typical domestic system, with the written report delivered within TURNAROUND PLACEHOLDER working days.
I've just bought a house with solar and have no paperwork at all. Is that a problem?
No — it's one of the most common situations we see. We can assess and fully document a system from scratch: what's installed, its condition, its output, and its compliance status. We'll also transfer the monitoring and export registration into your name.
Can you check the battery too?
Yes. Where a battery is fitted we check its state of health, charge and discharge behaviour, and whether its scheduling actually matches your electricity tariff — a badly scheduled battery on an Irish smart tariff can be costing you money every single night.
Is this the same as an annual service?
The health check is the deep-dive baseline; the annual service maintains it. Most customers do the health check first, then move onto scheduled maintenance through the Care Plan.
Will you try to sell me repairs I don't need?
The report separates defects into safety, performance and cosmetic — with honest commentary on which are worth fixing and which aren't. We don't install systems and we publish our prices; the report is designed to be taken to anyone, which keeps us honest.
